Ingredients

  • 4 lbs pork ribs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Prepare the ribs by removing the membrane on the bone side. This is optional but helps the ribs cook more evenly and be more tender.
  3. Rub the ribs with olive oil, then season generously with salt and pepper. Use your hands to rub the seasoning in so it’s well distributed.
  4. Wrap the ribs tightly in aluminum foil and place them on a baking sheet. This will allow them to cook gently and retain moisture.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours. Check after 2 hours—if they are tender and the meat pulls away from the bone easily, they are done.
  6. While ribs are baking, prepare the barbecue sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  7. Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low heat and let it cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Once the ribs are done, remove them from the oven and discard the foil. Brush a generous amount of barbecue sauce over both sides of the ribs.
  9. Increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C). Return the ribs to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 30 minutes until the sauce caramelizes.
  10. Remove from the oven and let the ribs rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute through the meat.
  11. Serve the ribs with any remaining sauce on the side. Enjoy!
