Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound bok choy, washed and chopped
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
- 1. Begin by washing the bok choy thoroughly. Chop off the base and separate the leaves. Cut the leaves into bite-sized pieces, including the stems, as they add a nice crunch.
- 2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Ensure the skillet or wok is completely heated before adding ingredients to prevent sticking.
- 3. Add the minced garlic to the oil and stir continuously for about 30 seconds until the garlic becomes fragrant but not browned. Keep stirring to prevent burning.
- 4. Add the chopped bok choy to the skillet. If your bok choy is too much for the pan, add in batches. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes or until the greens are wilted and the stalks are tender, yet still slightly crisp.
- 5. Stir in the soy sauce, water, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the bok choy evenly. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
- 6. Add the sesame oil at the end of the cooking process. Stir well and remove from heat. This addition gives the dish a lovely aroma and enhances the flavor.
- 7. Transfer the stir-fried bok choy to a serving dish. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
