Ingredients
- 1 bunch broccoli rabe, about 1 pound
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, sliced thin
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Lemon wedges for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat. Add a pinch of salt to the water.
- Trim about 1-inch from the stem ends of the broccoli rabe to remove any tough parts.
- Add the trimmed broccoli rabe to the boiling water and blanch for about 2 minutes until it turns bright green.
- Drain the broccoli rabe in a colander and immediately run cold water over it to stop the cooking process.
- In a large, deep sauté pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and red pepper flakes if using.
- Once the garlic is fragrant and starting to turn golden, add the drained broccoli rabe.
- Sauté the broccoli rabe, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes until tender.
- Season the broccoli rabe with salt and black pepper. Adjust seasonings to taste.
- Serve warm, with lemon wedges on the side if desired.
