Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bunch garlic chives (about 1 cup), trimmed and cut into 2-inch lengths
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Heat a large frying pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the vegetable oil and let it heat up for about 1-2 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic to the pan and stir-fry for 30 seconds or until fragrant. Be careful not to let it burn by continuously stirring.
- Add the garlic chives to the pan. Stir well to coat them with the garlic and oil, and cook for about 2 minutes.
- Tip: Make sure your garlic chives are completely dry before adding them to the pan to avoid oil splatter.
- Add the soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Stir the mixture continuously for another minute.
- Pour in the water and cover the pan with a lid. Allow the chives to steam for about 2 more minutes, or until they are tender but still bright green.
- Remove the lid and give the chives one last stir. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Serve hot as a standalone dish or as a side with rice or noodles.
