Ingredients
- 4 fish fillets (such as tilapia, cod, or haddock, 6 oz each)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup capers, drained
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Lemon slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Lightly coat the fish fillets with flour. Shake off any excess flour.
- Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully add the fish fillets to the skillet.
- Cook the fish fillets for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Transfer the fillets to a plate and cover with aluminum foil to keep warm.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the capers, lemon juice, and chicken broth to the skillet. Stir and cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to reduce slightly.
- Return the fish fillets to the skillet and spoon the sauce over them. Allow them to heat through for another minute.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices if desired. Serve immediately.
