Ingredients
- 4 fillets of white fish (such as cod or haddock, about 6 ounces each)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large lemon, zested and juiced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Position the oven rack in the middle to ensure even baking.
- Lightly oil the baking dish with olive oil or cooking spray to prevent the fish from sticking.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, minced garlic, dried oregano, lemon zest, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper.
- Add the lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the breadcrumb mixture, stirring until evenly coated and moist. The mixture should hold together slightly when pressed.
- Place the fish fillets in the prepared baking dish. Divide the breadcrumb mixture evenly among the fish fillets, pressing it down slightly to adhere.
- Drizzle the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over the top of the breadcrumb crust to promote browning.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork, and the topping is golden brown.
- Remove the dish from the oven and allow it to rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve your Fish Oreganata with lemon wedges for an added burst of fresh flavor. Enjoy!
