Ingredients

  • 4 fillets of white fish (such as cod or haddock, about 6 ounces each)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large lemon, zested and juiced
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Position the oven rack in the middle to ensure even baking.
  2. Lightly oil the baking dish with olive oil or cooking spray to prevent the fish from sticking.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, minced garlic, dried oregano, lemon zest, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Add the lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the breadcrumb mixture, stirring until evenly coated and moist. The mixture should hold together slightly when pressed.
  5. Place the fish fillets in the prepared baking dish. Divide the breadcrumb mixture evenly among the fish fillets, pressing it down slightly to adhere.
  6. Drizzle the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over the top of the breadcrumb crust to promote browning.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork, and the topping is golden brown.
  8. Remove the dish from the oven and allow it to rest for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Serve your Fish Oreganata with lemon wedges for an added burst of fresh flavor. Enjoy!
