Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 10 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- Start by preparing the shrimp. Rinse them under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set them aside in a mixing bowl.
- In the mixing bowl with the shrimp, add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of paprika. Toss everything until the shrimp are well coated with the seasonings. Let them sit while you prepare the garlic.
- Peel and mince 10 cloves of garlic. If you have a garlic press, this can make the job quicker and easier.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and the minced garlic. Stir the garlic frequently to avoid burning, cooking it for about 1 minute until it’s fragrant but not browned.
- Add 1/4 cup of unsalted butter to the skillet. Allow it to melt and mix with the garlic, stirring to ensure the garlic doesn’t stick or burn.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook the shrimp for about 2 minutes on the first side. You will know they are ready to be flipped when they start to turn pink and curl slightly.
- Flip the shrimp and pour 1 tablespoon of fresh lime juice over them. Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes until the shrimp are opaque and fully cooked through.
- Turn off the heat and sprinkle 1/4 cup of fresh chopped cilantro over the shrimp. Toss the shrimp gently to coat them in the garlic butter sauce and cilantro.
- Transfer the shrimp to a serving platter, pouring the garlic butter sauce over them. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.
