Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 10 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing the shrimp. Rinse them under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set them aside in a mixing bowl.
  2. In the mixing bowl with the shrimp, add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of paprika. Toss everything until the shrimp are well coated with the seasonings. Let them sit while you prepare the garlic.
  3. Peel and mince 10 cloves of garlic. If you have a garlic press, this can make the job quicker and easier.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and the minced garlic. Stir the garlic frequently to avoid burning, cooking it for about 1 minute until it’s fragrant but not browned.
  5. Add 1/4 cup of unsalted butter to the skillet. Allow it to melt and mix with the garlic, stirring to ensure the garlic doesn’t stick or burn.
  6. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook the shrimp for about 2 minutes on the first side. You will know they are ready to be flipped when they start to turn pink and curl slightly.
  7. Flip the shrimp and pour 1 tablespoon of fresh lime juice over them. Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes until the shrimp are opaque and fully cooked through.
  8. Turn off the heat and sprinkle 1/4 cup of fresh chopped cilantro over the shrimp. Toss the shrimp gently to coat them in the garlic butter sauce and cilantro.
  9. Transfer the shrimp to a serving platter, pouring the garlic butter sauce over them. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.
