Ingredients
- 1 pound beef flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1/4 cup oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Marinade the Beef. In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons soy sauce and 1 tablespoon cornstarch. Add the sliced beef and mix well to coat each piece evenly. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
- Step 2: Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer and sear both sides for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Step 3: Using the same skillet, add broccoli florets and sliced red bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and tender-crisp. You may add 1-2 tablespoons of water if needed to help steam-cook the vegetables.
- Step 4: Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the vegetables. Stir and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Step 5: In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, and 1/2 cup beef broth. Mix until smooth and cornstarch is completely dissolved.
- Step 6: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the sauce over and sprinkle with optional red pepper flakes. Stir everything together and cook for about 2 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly and coats the beef and vegetables.
- Step 7: Remove from heat and serve hot over steamed rice. Garnish with sesame seeds or sliced green onions if desired.
