Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1 large egg yolk
- 3/4 cup Nutella
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Chopped hazelnuts (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, confectioners’ sugar, and salt. Add the cubed butter and use your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the egg yolk to the flour mixture and mix until the dough just comes together. If it’s too dry, add a teaspoon or two of cold water.
- Press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch tart pan. Prick the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbling.
- Place the tart pan on a baking sheet and bake the crust for 20 minutes, or until lightly golden. Let it cool completely.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the Nutella and heavy cream. Stir constantly until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the Nutella mixture into the cooled tart crust. Use a spatula to spread it evenly.
- Optionally, sprinkle the top of the tart with chopped hazelnuts for extra crunch and flavor.
- Refrigerate the tart for at least 1 hour, or until the filling is set.
- Serve chilled and enjoy your delicious Nutella Tart!
