Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 3/4 cup Nutella
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Chopped hazelnuts (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, confectioners’ sugar, and salt. Add the cubed butter and use your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the egg yolk to the flour mixture and mix until the dough just comes together. If it’s too dry, add a teaspoon or two of cold water.
  4. Press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch tart pan. Prick the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbling.
  5. Place the tart pan on a baking sheet and bake the crust for 20 minutes, or until lightly golden. Let it cool completely.
  6. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the Nutella and heavy cream. Stir constantly until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Pour the Nutella mixture into the cooled tart crust. Use a spatula to spread it evenly.
  8. Optionally, sprinkle the top of the tart with chopped hazelnuts for extra crunch and flavor.
  9. Refrigerate the tart for at least 1 hour, or until the filling is set.
  10. Serve chilled and enjoy your delicious Nutella Tart!
