Ingredients
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, honey, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Add the egg to the ricotta mixture and mix well until the egg is fully incorporated.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the ricotta mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
- In a deep skillet, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F. Use a thermometer to ensure the correct temperature. If the oil is too hot, the fritters will brown quickly on the outside but remain uncooked inside.
- Carefully drop tablespoons of batter into the hot oil, cooking in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Tip: Use a slotted spoon to turn the fritters gently.
- Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Once all fritters are cooked, dust them with powdered sugar before serving. Serve warm for the best experience.
