Ingredients

  • 3 boxes (3 oz each) flavored gelatin (e.g., strawberry, lime, and orange)
  • 4 cups boiling water, divided
  • 4 cups cold water, divided
  • 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare each flavored gelatin separately. In a medium bowl, dissolve each gelatin box in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved, then add 1 cup of cold water for each. Pour each flavor into separate shallow containers. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or until fully set.
  2. Once set, cut each flavored gelatin into 1-inch cubes with a sharp knife. Carefully scoop them out with a spatula and set aside in a bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over 1 cup of cold milk. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to bloom.
  4. Heat the bloomed gelatin and milk mixture gently until the gelatin has fully dissolved. Do not let it boil. Stir continuously.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  6. Gently fold the flavored gelatin cubes into the cream mixture. Be careful not to break the cubes as you mix them in.
  7. Pour the mixture into a lightly greased mold or serving dish. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour until fully set.
  8. To unmold, briefly dip the mold in warm water and carefully invert onto a serving plate. If using a serving dish instead of a mold, simply scoop and serve.
  9. Tip: To get the best color contrast, choose gelatin flavors that complement each other in color and taste. Also, make sure each flavored gelatin is fully set before combining with the milk mixture.
