Ingredients
- 2 cups (480ml) blackcurrants (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup (120ml) sugar
- 1/2 cup (120ml) water
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) lemon juice
- Crème de Cassis (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Let the syrup cool.
- In a blender or food processor, combine the blackcurrants, cooled sugar syrup, and lemon juice. Blend until smooth.
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any seeds or pulp.
- Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Alternatively, pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container and freeze, stirring every 30 minutes until firm.
- Serve the sorbet in chilled bowls or cones. Optionally, drizzle with Crème de Cassis for an extra touch of flavor.
- Tip: Garnish with fresh mint leaves or a drizzle of blackcurrant syrup for an extra touch of elegance.
