Ingredients
- 3 medium ripe tomatoes
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
- 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- Salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Wash and pat dry the tomatoes thoroughly. Using a sharp knife, slice them into 1/4-inch thick rounds. Arrange the slices on a large serving platter in a single layer.
- Drain the mozzarella if necessary and slice it into similar 1/4-inch thick rounds as the tomatoes. Place the mozzarella slices directly on top of the tomato slices.
- Rinse the fresh basil leaves under cold water and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Scatter the whole basil leaves over the tomato and mozzarella slices.
