Ingredients
- 2 pounds octopus, cleaned
- 1 lemon, halved
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Rinse the octopus under cold water to remove any debris, and pat dry with paper towels. This helps with caramelization when grilling.
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil over high heat. Add the halved lemon, bay leaf, and a pinch of salt.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and add the octopus. Simmer for about 40 minutes, or until the octopus is tender when pierced with a knife.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F). While the grill heats, prepare a marinade.
- Mix olive oil, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. This marinade will infuse the octopus with additional flavor.
- Remove the octopus from the pot, drain well, and let it cool enough to handle. Cut the tentacles into manageable pieces for grilling.
- Brush the octopus pieces with the marinade, ensuring they’re well-coated for maximum flavor and to prevent sticking to the grill.
- Place the octopus on the grill. Grill each side for about 4-5 minutes, or until they have desirable grill marks and a charred texture.
- Transfer grilled octopus to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped parsley and a squeeze of lemon juice for freshness.
- Serve warm and enjoy your Grilled Octopus with a simple salad or roasted vegetables.
