Ingredients
- 1 French baguette
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 8 ounces goat cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves, chopped
- Salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Optional: 1 clove garlic, halved
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the baguette into 1/4-inch thick slices using a serrated knife. Expect to get around 20 slices.
- Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet. Take care not to overlap them to ensure they toast evenly.
- Using a pastry brush, lightly brush each slice with olive oil. This will help them become golden and crispy.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the slices are lightly golden at the edges. Tip: Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
- If using garlic, once the crostini are out of the oven and still warm, gently rub each slice with the cut side of the garlic clove for a subtle garlic aroma.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine the softened goat cheese, honey, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well blended. Tip: Ensure the goat cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
- Spread about 1 tablespoon of the goat cheese mixture onto each crostini. Be generous for full flavor impact.
- Optionally, drizzle a tiny bit more honey over the top of each crostini for extra sweetness.
- Serve the crostini immediately while they’re fresh and crisp. They make an exquisite appetizer or snack.
