Ingredients
- 1 loaf French or Italian bread (about 12-14 inches long)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 4 large garlic cloves (minced)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- Make garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, Parmesan cheese, and salt until fully combined. Tip: If butter is too firm, microwave for 5-10 seconds to soften.
- Cut bread: Using a serrated knife, slice bread lengthwise to create two even halves. Place cut-side up on prepared baking sheet.
- Spread butter mixture: Divide garlic butter evenly between both bread halves. Use a butter knife or back of a spoon to spread all the way to edges. Tip: For extra flavor, make shallow diagonal cuts in bread before spreading (don’t slice through!).
- Bake covered: Loosely tent bread with aluminum foil. Bake 10 minutes to melt butter and infuse flavors.
- Crisp uncovered: Remove foil and bake 5-7 more minutes until edges are golden and crispy. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Slice and serve: Let cool 2 minutes, then cut crosswise into 1-inch slices. Serve warm.
