Ingredients
- 8 mozzarella sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 cup marinara sauce for serving
Instructions
- Remove the 8 mozzarella sticks from their packaging and place them on a tray. Freeze them for at least 30 minutes to help maintain their shape while frying.
- In a shallow bowl, add 1 cup of flour. In another shallow bowl, whisk together 2 eggs and 2 tablespoons of milk until well combined. In a third shallow bowl, mix 2 cups of breadcrumbs with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of dried Italian herbs, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Dredge each frozen mozzarella stick in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it in the egg mixture, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps one more time.
- In a deep pot or frying pan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F. Use a kitchen thermometer to ensure the oil stays at the right temperature for even frying.
- Working in batches, carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil. Fry them for about 1-2 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
- Serve the fried mozzarella sticks immediately with 1 cup of marinara sauce for dipping.
