Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place a rack in the middle of the oven for even roasting.
- In a medium mixing bowl, add 2 cups of raw peanuts. Ensure they are unsalted and skinless for the best result.
- Drizzle 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over the peanuts and stir well to coat them evenly. You can use a spatula or simply your hands.
- Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of Chinese five-spice powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of sugar over the peanuts. Stir thoroughly so that each peanut is well-coated with the spice mixture.
- Spread the peanuts out in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This will help prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes. This ensures the peanuts roast evenly and do not burn. Watch closely during the last 5 minutes.
- Once done, remove from the oven and let the peanuts cool on the baking sheet. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
- Once completely cooled, store the peanuts in an airtight container. They can be enjoyed immediately or kept fresh for up to two weeks.
